First news of 2022

Change of the president of the Slovak Medical Chamber. Where will additional exams for doctors, pharmacists and dentists be held and how will this affect training. Jobs for medical staff in Slovakia. Everyone can help easily.
Dear friends, members and supporters of the Association,

The beginning of the year is traditionally a time of planning, resolutions and presenting new visions for the future. So, let us address you, our members and sympathizers, in this spirit. We would like to continue to bring you regular updates and information about what is happening, what has already happened and what we expect (and are trying to improve in the interest of all of us). It is sure to be an interesting year ahead.

Good news first
In November last year, there was a change in the post of President of the Slovak Medical Chamber, where Pavel Oravec replaced Marian Kollár, with whom, unfortunately, we could never find common ground. We hope that in the near future we will be able to have a personal meeting with the new SK President and we will be able to move forward on the topics of common interest, which is a functioning healthcare system with fair conditions for all. It can't get any worse than it has been, so probably really good news.

It is already clear and confirmed that the supplementary examinations of doctors, pharmacists and dentists will be conducted only at the Slovak University of Health Sciences, which is really good news because the overall preparation will be much easier and we believe that this step will also reflect on the success rate of its mastering. Just a reminder that the next deadline for doctors and dentists is 30 and 31.03.2022. More information about all the deadlines.

Fingers crossed and if you need anything, don't hesitate to contact us!

This good news is also good news for our partner, the renowned language school iCan, because they will finally know what exams to prepare you for and they will do their best. Just a reminder here that the cooperation with the IOM Migration Information Centre is working very well and for those of you who have already been granted temporary residence, there is the possibility of reimbursement for language training courses. If you need help with this or have any questions, we will be happy to help you with anything.

As we mentioned at the end of last year, there is a growing interest in cooperation with us on the part of health care providers and we are about to sign contracts with two hospital networks and a network of laboratories for which we should provide new staff (doctors, nurses, practical nurses, laboratory technicians, dentists). So, if you are interested in a new job or looking for your first one we will be happy to help you with this free of charge. You know us, we will always be on your side.

And the final good news is that we have moved. If you decide to visit us in person, you can find us at the new address Panónska cesta 17, Bratislava (University of Management building). We look forward to seeing you.

Bad news in good news
Our efforts to speed up the whole process of your arrival and involvement in the healthcare system through the 'national visas' may not have been listened to all the way through, and from our point of view, it looks like another missed opportunity. Alona Kurotová wrote it best in her blog titled: “Do we really not need nurses and doctors?

Bad news
Secondary school nurses are still forgotten even though we point this out in every meeting with those in charge. Here too our efforts do not stop and we continue to fight.

There is still no cooperation and coordination between the authorities responsible for your arrival in Slovakia and the rapid integration into the healthcare system. So, step by step, we are explaining clear things to the competent ones with mixed results.

Big question mark
We still do not know how the approval of all the legislative changes that we talked about last time will turn out in the end, because in the end it will only be decided in Parliament. We will certainly still be seeking changes and corrections to the errors that are in the proposal that is currently on the table. For now, I guess you keep your fingers crossed for us (and therefore for yourselves).

A plea in conclusion
As we mentioned last time, for the proper and professional functioning of our Association, as for every activity, funds are needed. We try to provide these both by our own activities as we mentioned above but there is also the possibility that you are our members and supporters can help without having to contribute directly financially to our activities (for your benefit). It is a system of financing non-profit organizations by transferring 2% of your taxes to a specific organization, i.e. to our association and yours.

For all of you who are already working in Slovakia, you decide about 2% of your taxes. So, we would like to ask you to donate this 2% to us for a good cause. The easiest way to do so is to tell your employer of your interest in donating your 2% tax to our organization and give them our details.
If you have any problems with this, or if your employer is not willing to do this, please contact us. It is your right and we will be happy to help you with this.

Your help, in this case, is a help that will definitely come back to you and your colleagues. Thank you in advance.

P.S. As the deadline for filing your tax return is not until 31 March, we will probably remind you of this once again as we only have this opportunity once a year.

In conclusion, we wish you all to make the best of this year and move things in the right direction. Now is the time.
