Strengthening ties with Slovak healthcare professionals abroad: London, coming soon!

At the end of January, the team of the International Association of Doctors and Healthcare Professionals in Slovakia (MALnS) will travel to London for an event taking place on January 31 at the premises of our diplomatic mission in the United Kingdom. This visit is part of our efforts to strengthen collaboration between Slovak healthcare professionals—both in academia and clinical practice—who work abroad and their colleagues in Slovakia. This meeting is the first in a series of events that MALnS is organizing as part of the approved project "EU Recovery Plan – NextGenerationEU – Permanent Conference of Slovak Healthcare Professionals," aimed at enhancing ties with the Slovak diaspora and supporting civic initiatives.

Why London?

The United Kingdom, and specifically London, has long been a hub for many Slovak healthcare professionals. The Association of Slovak Healthcare Professionals in the UK helps us connect these Slovak experts working abroad with Slovakia. This trip is therefore a unique opportunity to strengthen these ties, exchange experiences, and explore possibilities for collaboration.

Round Table – Expert Discussion on Collaboration Opportunities

As part of our January visit to London, an important meeting will take place, bringing together representatives of healthcare and social services professionals. The event will also be attended by hospital and healthcare facility management representatives from Slovakia. The goal of this meeting is to create a platform for discussion on collaboration opportunities, share best practices, and exchange professional knowledge.

Main Topics of the Meeting

1. Collaboration Opportunities Between Slovakia and Slovak Healthcare Professionals in the UK:

  • Mutual exchange of experiences in healthcare.
  • Connecting experts on specific projects.
  • Engaging Slovak healthcare professionals in the UK in the preparation and implementation of the 1st Annual Permanent Conference of Slovak Healthcare Professionals, planned for late March.

2. Sharing Scientific Knowledge and Innovations:

  • Solutions to improve efficiency in healthcare and social services.

3. Support for the Slovak Diaspora:

  • Discussion with representatives of the Slovak Embassy on legislative issues related to returning to Slovakia, studying, and working in their home country.
  • Identifying the needs of Slovaks living in the UK and exploring opportunities for their professional engagement in Slovakia.

Global Perspective

This visit is part of a larger project supported by the EU Recovery Plan – NextGenerationEU. Our goal, through conferences, webinars, and similar events, is to:

  • Modernize the Slovak healthcare system by leveraging the experience of Slovaks working abroad.
  • Create opportunities for collaboration between Slovakia and its global diaspora.
  • Build sustainable professional networks that foster innovation and development.

What’s Next?

After returning from London, we plan to expand our activities to other EU countries, such as France, Germany, and the Czech Republic. This journey is just the beginning of our year-long effort to connect, inspire, and collaborate with Slovak professionals around the world.
