We have successfully completed the Permanent Conference of Slovak Healthcare Professionals project

On June 26, 2026, the final online meeting for the project “Permanent Conference of Slovak Healthcare Professionals—Connecting Slovak Doctors, Healthcare Professionals, Social Workers, and Students Working Abroad with Slovakia” took place.

The event, titled “Reflections and Future Paths” was organized by the International Association of Physicians and Healthcare Professionals in Slovakia (MALnS) in close collaboration with the Association of Slovak Healthcare Professionals in the UK.

What did we evaluate at the meeting?

The main goal of the online discussion was to objectively assess the project’s achievements as well as its future prospects. Together, we identified the strengths and weaknesses of its implementation to date and outlined possible future developments. We agreed that it is crucial to maintain and further develop the established platform for cooperation with the Slovak diaspora working in healthcare.

The Permanent Conference of Slovak Healthcare Professionals already serves as a stable link between the healthcare community of Slovaks living abroad and Slovakia, facilitating the exchange of valuable information, experiences, and best practices. Our diaspora is familiar with the environments of both countries and is therefore able to accurately identify areas with higher development potential and actively support their improvement in Slovakia. For our diaspora, the project also offers opportunities for returning to Slovakia and pursuing professional fulfillment there in all forms.

Event Program and Key Speakers

The meeting was opened by Marian Neradný, the project manager, who summarized and evaluated the project’s progress to date. Alona Kurotová then presented a vision for the future and specific plans for the potential continuation of the activities already underway. Other key stakeholders from various countries also actively participated in the rich discussion and reflection on the project:
• Helena Aziri (UK)
• Ondrej Obediar (UK)
• Katarina Morris (UK)
• Edita Searle (UK)
• Peter Bodiš (UK)
• Dana Klampárová (UK)
•Monika Kubiková (UK)

What are our next steps?

The most important practical outcome of this event is the creation of a comprehensive document that clearly outlines the importance and benefits of this project. This document will be submitted to the Minister of Health of the Slovak Republic, Mr. Kamil Šaško.
A face-to-face meeting with the Minister is already scheduled for July 6, 2026, and our main goal at this meeting will be to find a way to continue these important activities directly under the auspices of the Minister of Health. We are therefore awaiting this meeting before providing a comprehensive evaluation of the project, and we will keep you informed of its results.
We thank all the speakers and participants for their valuable contributions and support. We will keep you informed about further developments following the meeting at the ministry!
