An open letter

Dear Minister,

Foreign doctors and other medical professionals who live in Slovakia would like to provide their professional knowledge and strength in the fight against the coronavirus. The number of patients suffering from the disease COVID19, which is caused by SARS-CoV-2, is growing every day.

According to the analysis of the Institute of Health Policy, the number of infected people should grow, while in mid-June, almost 24,000 people would have to be hospitalized at one point. The healthcare industry is already struggling with a shortage of medical personnel, with doctors and nurses currently on the front line. After a while, however, extreme exhaustion can occur, while the infection may unfortunately not be avoided either.

We at the International Association of Doctors in Slovakia (MALnS) perceive this unfavorable situation and therefore call on foreign doctors and the entire foreign community in Slovakia to help Slovakia - the country in which they want to live and work. Many of them responded very promptly and helpfully and offered their professional knowledge and skills. They are immediately able to start working in hospitals that will need them without the right to a fee or other remuneration. They only need an exemption, as some of them do not yet have their education from their home country recognized, or have not yet passed the professional exams.

We are attaching a list of doctors plus other volunteers with a first aid course, as well as contact information for volunteers. We update the list every day, as many doctors from abroad really want to help.

Therefore, allow us to offer you our help and cooperation. We will be glad if you contact us.

At the same time, we look forward to working with you in the next four years, when, we believe, we will be able to help the Slovak healthcare system by integrating foreign doctors and other medical personnel into practice.

Sincerely
Representatives of the MALnS Board of Directors
